Hello people,

I have an old Voodoo 2 that's definitely dead. I came up with the idea that maybe I could harvest the VRAM chips from it and use it to upgrade my older VLB type video cards with more memory (they have empty slots for this). The case type is the same on both chips, and so is the pinout and voltage. But the newer Voodoo chips are way faster, and not quite the same. The VLB boards use "CMOS DRAM" (hy514260b) whereas the Voodoo uses "EDO DRAM" (sm81c256k16cj-25).

Would it be possible to do this?

The EDO part will likely cause issues. Normal FPM RAM will work fine though.

I could be mistaken, but I think the Trio64 supports EDO memory.
