I'd probably forget about GF6x range of cards as this is a pure Win98 build. Any games that need more then a GF4Ti or GF FX will work in XP anyway.
Better off keeping compatibility. The GF4/5 cards are XP era cards technically speaking so pretty powerful in Win9x terms.
Not sure about ATI, Still don't have much of their hardware.
No idea on prices, managed to get most this stuff 5 odd years ago when this stuff wasn't desirable at all. People have really caught onto the whole P4 Win98 rig in the last 2 years!
so which gf4/5 cards would best suited for this build as i am thinking 32mb lowest (at a push), 64mb mid level and 128mb max
think i might of found mobo that fits, i think - has northwood cpu, 3x 256mb ram sticks (use only 2 of them), drivers available from website, i/o shield included, has
intel 845 chipset (593 FC-BGA)

not sure if i need to worry about agp slot with 4x/8x etc as it say this in manual
The AGP slot DOES NOT support 3.3V AGP card. Use of
3.3V AGP card may cause damages to the mainboard. To identify
the spec of your AGP card, refer to the documentation supplied
with the AGP card or check the view of its contact pins (golden
fingers) before you install it.
