VOGONS

My original msi board died (bad caps) and I attempted but failed to recap it. I bought a P5PE-VM on eBay, but it also had bad caps. I replaced them but the pci bus is doing some glitchy things, and the agp slot cap is bulging again, even with the new Panasonic cap installed there.

I wanted to pick up the 775i65g but it's out of production, so I'm looking for advice on another 775 board for my p4 windows 98. Machine. I'm most worried about W98 support. I run xp and 98 on it but mostly 98. Agp is a must as I swap between a voodoo 3 2000 pci and a Radeon 9500 agp card.

I want to stick with the P4 I have (forget which one exactly, but it's case badged and everything for it, so looks I guess).

Thoughts? Anywhere anyone is aware of that I can still get that asrock board maybe?

Thanks,

Zach

The Foxconn 865G7MF is similar to the Asrock 775i65g and Newegg has them new for $36. Free shipping in USA and seller has a good rating. https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813186060

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Posted to this lots today!
LGA 775 Motherboards with AGP Slots

Socket 775 has been out of production for quite a while now but you can still find NOS if you look.
I got this Jan last year, any Asus branding was covered in Permanent marker on the board itself so when I asked the seller why he said it was as the motherboard wasn't covered by Asus warranty anymore. So guess he got a large shipment of Asus surplus.

I'm curious if anyone has experience with this board. Reviews are sparse and mixed. It seems like it fits perfectly into what I want though (agp and 865g chipset). For 30 bucks looks like a steal. Was hoping to not have to recap but I'm starting to gather anything from this era probably suffered cap plague.
