Oh my, I realized I made a huge mistake!!! I said EDO RAM, despite the fact, that it's OBVIOUSLY FPM RAM. I feel so stupid right now.
I'm so sorry for the massive confusion. I really shouldn't have made this mistake. I should've known better. I beg my pardon. I really embarrassed myself. Geez, that is terrible, what was I thinking?
Thanks for the reminder pentiumspeed, without you I wouldn't have noticed this. I accidentally said EDO Ram instead of FPM RAM!!!
Please forgive me guys, I have no words, this is really embarrassing from me.

I hope you can see the pictures. I wasn't sure which file licence I should pick.

Fifth entry from the bottom, says "Memory parity check" - set it to Disable.

Thank you very much, that actually fixed my problem.

I want to say a huge thanks, to everyone, who helped me fixing my problems. I really, really appreciate that.
Words can't describe how thankfull I am. You guys are the best!!!

8 Chips = Non parity

You can check your DRAMs by using MemTest86+ 4.10
You can download the files for a floppy disk from here:
https://www.memtest.org/
https://www.memtest.org/download/4.10/memtest … 4.10.floppy.zip
DO NOT USE ANY NEWER VERSION THAN 4.10 ON A 486

Well unfortunately, my luck didn't last long.
We just solved the first 2 issues and now the next problems are already coming.
Non of the drives are working.
It shows me this message: hard disk(s) fail (80)
I really thought, my problems were fixed it, but I guess I was wrong.
I'm sorry to bother you with this even more, I really wish, everything would be working.
Can anyone tell me, how to solve these problems?
Thanks in advance

Did you go into bios settings and disabled parity checking or something like this? Reported MHz correct for the 486DX2 80 (saying 80mhz) and is CPU cooled with a heatsink?

Make sure the VLB motherboard has wait state set to one. Not zero? Take all the cache chips out and test again or disable the cache and retest. 486 needs 4 matched set of 30pin SIMMs since CPU is 32bit data path and one simm is 8 bits wide with 1 bit for parity or without parity. Failing that, change them out with another set of memory modules all matched (different name or part but matched set of 4 SIMMS) to make sure?

40MHz bus clock requires 70ns or 60ns memory modules. If 80ns that's too slow for very fast dx2 80 even at 40mhz bus clock due to less timing (more rapid timings) going on.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

Parity check is disabled. The frequency of the CPU is displayed correctly, if that's what you wanted to know.
The CPU is passively cooled with a small heatsink.
The wait state jumper is set to one. (Pin 1 & 2 is closed for 1 wait state )
I'm going to try to disable the L2 cache and see if something changes.
When I have the time, i'm also going to buy a kit of 4 supported memory modules.
Thanks for your great and helpful advices!
I will contact you tomorrow.

I'm so happy right now!
I don't know how, but it just fixed itself.
I did nothing, it just decided to work.
I can't promise, that this is the end of the thread.
However, it looks like it's almost working properly now.
What do you guys think?
In case I have more questions, should I continue this thread, or should I start a new one?
Anyways, I can't say it enough. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!
Without your help, I wouldn't come this far.
Thank you so much for everything, I appreciate that!
