I have dual PPro motherboard MS-6103 that has a 10pin header marked USB1 USB2. I would like to connect USB cable with rear bracket to it, but I'm afraid to plug modern 9pin USB cable to the board's 10pin header as I'm not sure that the headers on these pentium boards had the same pinout as modern boards. Also, on modern boards the 10pin header has 1 blank pin so that the connector can be keyed correctly. The 10pin connector on this board has all 10pins present.

Any advice? Thank you.

Early USB connectors were not standardised and you have to check motherboard manual to make sure.

If you are sure the connections are same as modern USB connectors, you can bend the extra pin out of the way or remove key from connector.

Is this too much voodoo?

Unfortunately I can't find full manual anywhere on the internet. I only have few scanned pages that simply state it's a USB header. Is there a way to test out the pins? I have a multi meter, what should i be looking for.

To avoid frying something, probe for +5V and GND on BOTH rows. Once you figure out where they are, you can try few configurations. I don't think Data- and Data+ being reversed would cause any issues.
