Is there any benefit to using a Gotek hardware floppy emulator over a software-based solution like SHSUFDRV, if I'm not short on RAM?

Exchanging data easily between two computers - the one with the Gotek and the other with modern OS (say macOS) ?

Ok, fair enough, adding and exchanging data would indeed be a pain in the ass without one...
I was mainly thinking with regard to running games, hadn't considered much beyond that.

Are there any harware-based floppy emulation solutions that don't require a front bay for installation, and that can be configured through DOS command line or some other host device?
Something akin to this CD/DVD ROM drive simulator -> https://shop.tattiebogle.net/product/prod_EkTnv3Tk2Trxhf

I'm speaking under correction, but I believe to remember that the Goteks already support that by using a different firmware, say FlashFloppy.
The DOS program available was made for some proprietary firmware that has to be payed, HICKS or how it was called.

Took me some time, but I've looked around, went full circle and found this DOS manager (port of the Amiga app, and written by a member of this forum of course) for the "HxC Floppy Emulator":

I assume this would be the one that you've been thinking about?
It seems they only charge for the HxC firmware if you want to use it with a GOTEK, but looks to be free of charge if you use it with their own hardware designs for a Floppy emulator.

I found these adjacent threads, for anyone else who's interested:

HxC Floppy Emulator Manager for DOS 🐍

The USB version of the HxC (and the GOTEK with their firmware) can indeed be used with a host device for file selection as well, but with the device being limited to read only in this case.
You can make your own based on their plans, or buy one through their online shop.

Ah yes, that's the one (HxC). Sorry for the inconvenience. 😅 In my own language, the letter "H" is pronounced differently, so I couldn't remember the name.
Anyway, the DOS manager utiliy *could* also work with FlashFloppy, or so I heard. If not, another utility can be used, perhaps.
For Windows, there's this one: "FF-HxC Editor is a Windows GUI for "HxC Floppy Emulator : HxC Floppy Emulator File selector" that can be used with the great FlashFloppy floppy emulator"

No problem at all, at least I've learned something new. So far I though Goteks were my only option in terms of hardware.
One thing I'm still trying to figure out is what the advantage would be in using FlashFloppy firmware over the HxC one. Do you know any details?
Thanks for your help!
