Does anyone have any experience working on one of these?

Dimension 4100 p3 866. Floppy is enabled in BIOS, set to 1.44mb. no hard drive plugged in (IDE devices disabled). When it boots, the floppy is dead - no light no activity, nothing.

I've tried different drives, same result.

The cable, unlike some other ones I have, is keyed to expect a missing pin.. i swapped a few identical cables I had sitting around, with the same issue.

It seems like the drive perhaps isn't getting any power.. i tried multiple power connectors, and tried a full size to 3.5 molex adapter as well.. still dead.

Any ideas?

I have no clue what I'm doing! If you want to watch me fumble through all my retro projects, you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrDavejustdave

I went through this with a 440lx board a couple of days ago. Absolutely could not get that drive to work. Finally went through the bios setup line by line and there were 3 different places on 3 different pages referring to to the diskette drive, one of which I had overlooked. Old computers are aggravating sometimes.
