Hi,

I have a trouble with a sound Blaster 16.
Digital audio work but the FM music seems to be doesn't work. I don't hear music.
The FM synth is detected but not responding..
Possible hardware problem ?

My experience has been the opposite with FM always working and digital being problematic at times. Maybe try to clean the contacts of the SB16 or try another ISA slot maybe?

I have tested with another sound card, digital and FM work perfectly. The problem come from the sound card.

Dear all
Also here same problem. CT2830.
No idea what’s going on. 😒
Parameters are all set correctly. Can only assume it’s jumper related

Have you checked the IFSD and APSD jumpers ? Read this: Sound Blaster 16 CT2830 Wave Side dead? (Solved)

Thanks guys I go through it.
First interesting fm setting I saw in cyclones thread: fm synth=388 port. Never touched that. Doesn’t seem to be an jumper-changeable item. I dive deeper

I will go again through it jumper by jumper. Csp jumpers are hardwired. Basic addresses set. But I will check again. Interference by ide port? No can’t imagine. Keep you informed

So everything is fine from jumper perspective. I installed win95 now and there fm Synth works flawless. So I am out of ideas. I can only assume it is related to my dos drivers or maybe the csp chip&driver

Exactly what games / programs is the FM synth not working in?

Yes will do so. Fm isn’t working for all games I tested. From Dos4gw, dune2, Sierra ones...
Bootconf will follow

Got it. I had to remove all sb16 related stuff from config and autoexec except for set variables. It works now 😳🧐
