I think the cooler should go the other way around. You see those two cuts on the bottom of the heatsink? Those cuts should go on top, without touching, of the VRMs on the left and top of the Socket. Hope what I said is understandable.
Also you don't need that much thermal paste.

That's a good idea! I totally agree with the thermal paste. I only added more than extra so I could see what the pattern looked like a little better
