Hello,

I'm fighting with a strange network behaviour on Windows 98 SE.

Configuration is:

Asus P5A V1.06 (BIOS 1011 b5)
AMD K62-533 CPU
512MB SDRAM
3DFX Voodoo3 2000 AGP
Sound Blaster AWE64 Gold ISA
Hitachi IC35L 80GB IDE HDD
RTL 8139 NIC PCI (3Com 3C905CA)
O.S. Windows 98 SE

Well, when I try to trasfer data thru network Win98 brutally reboot.
With RTL8139 NICs it reboot immediately. With a 3Com 3C905CA card it allow to transfer some megabytes of data (a random value), then reboot.

I tried to:

Reinstall Win98
Change PCI slot
Replace NIC drivers
Change NIC IRQ
Replace NIC

Any idea? Does someone experienced the same issue?

Thank you!

Andrea

If had to guess i would say hardware conflict. but you already changed the irq.
Maybe remove the soundcard (most likely conflicting device) and see if the network still crashes
