Hello everybody, i recently acquired a Compaq Armada 1592DMT which i plan to use for some DOS gaming.

The device is missing the hard disk and the hard disk caddy and it is being really difficult to find such caddy.

The question is, is it possible to boot from PCMCIA in this machine so i buy a PCMCIA CF adapter and so i dont depend on the hard drive? What other solution could i have?

Would think it better to find a HD caddy and install an HD so it is near original. Saw a 1590DMT for $29 plus shipping, if it has same drive caddy and does have a drive then that may be a better option. Do not know if you can boot from a PCMCIA to CF adapter as they typically need drivers loaded for the PCMCIA card to work. Good luck !

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Going down the PCMCIA road will be complex at best.
If you want to go with CF (or SD) your better off getting ide to CF adapter and putting that in the empty HDD bay, something along the lines of this
