Hello everyone

I just got a bit of a strange mouse here, a Suncom Atom Mouse, and I can't seem to get it to work.
The mouse comes with a drivers disk that I do not have, and I have given up trying to find online a copy of these drivers. Does anyone maybe have them around?

I don't understand what could be so special about this mouse, I tried using the freedos CT mouse driver and although something is recognized in the serial port, it does not work. Windows 98 will not recognize the mouse at all.
Maybe it's broken? I have no idea how to tell.
I also tried connecting it via a USB to serial adapter to my Windows XP computer, and it was , again, not recognized.

Any help appreciated!

Hi

Maybe if you post a pic of the mouse help would be more useful, however I found this old article which says the suncom mouse does not come with a drivers disk, only with a test disk, but also says that Windows drivers work fine.

Yeah would think the standard MS Mouse drivers would work, though only with two buttons (left and right). You would have to choose a 3 button mouse under Win9x.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

It's a three button mouse and it's unique in how it is and its name. It doesn't move around on a table, it slides on a fixed platform it is attached to, to save space.
Windows says " it's safe to plug a serial mouse now" but it doesn't work. Also as I said cutemouse in DOS recognizes a mouse in COM1 but it does not work when I run a game.

Here's a pic for those curious about it:

According to the Suncom Technology site on Wayback, the file is called ATOM98.ZIP (no it's not available there). This site seems to list the zip and it's contentshttp://www.input-drivers.com/drivers/0/252.htm but I can see no way to download it without going thru the shit that is their Driver Easy app (if then)!!!

Back to square one then 🙁
At least you found more than I did.
There's a guy on eBay currently selling this very same thing and he has manual and driver disk, but he has no way to make a copy of the floppy, I asked 🙁

Ok found the files, some are slightly newer but has same file set as PC Hoarder Patrol linked. Suncom did not make the mouse, appears they just marketed it and is the why the page "aha2940" shows says they do not do driver support.Appears it was also called the EVERTON WinPoint:

My gut tells me it will be a crappy DOS gaming mouse, appears designed for Windows apps, not games... but could be wrong.

Dude you rock! All of you! I love these forums ❤️

I installed this pack and everything works as expected! Will take some getting used to but it feels great and does exactly what I wanted.
I only play point n click adventures with a mouse so that works great, but will try Doom or Heretic and see how it feels.

Again thanks everyone for solving this, and so quickly! Jeez! I’m still amazed.

Now how do we get this driver put up in vogonsdrivers dot com?
