I have an AWE32 in my 486 system.

I’m playing Death Rally. When the game switches from the driving sequence to the scoreboard, I get a burst of static through my speakers. Similarly, when Doom starts up and inits the sound card, I get static for a second. In System Shock, if I have it running in 640x480, I get staticy broken digital audio. This includes the opening cutscene.

Is there some setting I need to set up to avoid these? 😒

Which AWE32 version ? The actual Creative card number would help.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

My AT bus is configured for 33/4, so 8.25MHz. I tried dropping it to 33/5 but no changes, I still get static when starting games.

I have a Shuttle HOT-419 board, 133MHz Am586 (33MHz FSB x4), 256K cache and 64MB of RAM. All the timings are configurable.

It’s a VLB GD5428 video card. I also have an ISA NE2000 NIC and a VLB Super I/O card.
