Hello,

I can get a K7S41GX from ASRock for 11 Euro. It's almost brand new, so I wanted to buy it for my Windows XP build. Later I found out that the nforce2 is deemed the best chipset, but I couldn't find a lot of information about the SiS 741GX. So did anyone use ASRock Socket A boards or any other motherboard with the SiS 741GX chipset?

I still have a couple that I used, from around that period -

- Asrock K7S41GX
- Foxconn (Winfast) K7S41M01C

They were both fine for what they were intended; budget matx boards for spare XP systems. Don't recall any particular issues for that use, though what are you planning for your system?

there are better chipsets for socket A, but it wasn't bad, the IGP is very basic, not for gaming, but the chipset itself is pretty standard for running a FSB333 AXP with single channel ram, agp8x on a budget,
I never thought it was slow, and it was very stable for me, when I used an ECS 741GX after years of using nforce2.

I'm not a fan of older asrock boards because I had issues with the ones I had, but many seem to have a good experience.
