For anyone looking to view the site with vintage browsers, don't forget that solutions like https://github.com/ttalvitie/browservice exist. Browservice does all of the heavy lifting on a chromium-embedded proxy server, leaving an image map that almost any browser can correctly render. It's definitely worth a try!

Actually, Ultimate Hardware works fine even with Internet Explorer 2 and 3. You can perform search with these ancient browsers and the output is perfectly readable even without CSS.

These ancient browsers don't support UTF-8 (that character encoding is supported by IE4 and later) but the text is perfectly displayed in English (UTF-8 is backward compatibility with ASCII)

I must say I really appreciate the effort in making the site work with older browsers 😀 It's nice to be able to browse directly from one of my Win9x builds.

Found a scan of the actual manual for a BEK V429S http://exeyesoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2 … motherboard.pdf

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Just want to say this is a great project!

I will add it to my links section (https://soggi.org/misc/links.htm) with the next update. 😀

  • compatibility: you can view UH19 on devices with at least a 386, Windows 3.1/95 and Internet Explorer 5 (Win16) / 4 (Win32)

Oh yes, a minimalistic design with compatibility for older browsers (also OSes and hardware) is very important and appreciated - that's also the way I do my stuff to make it viewable on vintage/retro computers.

Hey back in the Battlefield 1942 days mid 2000's knew a great player named Turpman, he was also talented in web design and other stuff.
Long live TURP ! 😁

How well can the new site be archived ?

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

maybe you should make a pointer to the new site at the old location now that links to it have already been spread all around, or even better just redirect to the specific page locations.

Yes, this is in progress.
TL;DR, the reason for this is because we had a disagreement with win3x.org owner. We just figured that we had different visions for uh19 ur.net and nobody wanted to change their vision so we chose to simply move away. No drama here, he should put a link to the new website soon.

Important update!

We've moved hosting to a new domain: https://www.ultimateretro.net
There is also a HTTP fallback version available.

Thanks for the note, link will be changed!

Nice, I also have a HTTP fallback. OK it's not really a fallback (as yours also isn't), it's just reachable via HTTP and HTTPS - maybe one day I'll integrate a real fallback (HTTP only for browsers not supporting TLS 1.2 and higher).

kind regards

I hope the HTTP version will come back soon.

It makes more sense to download drivers from vintage computers directly, instead of having to use an other device and, then, transfer stuffs to the target machine.

I agree, but we'll come with a service optimized for old machines and improve the "modern" service for the rest.

By the way, now that we've moved, I'd recommand everyone to stop linking to win3x.org/uh19/. That part of win3x.org will be turned off in late december as you can read on the main page.

Also, if moderators/admins of vogons could help us on this to replace each http://www.win3x.org/uh19/ with https://www.ultimateretro.net/en/, it'd be great, because as you can expect the old links will die (and it'd help us for the referencing of course 😁).
Thanks !

pretty unfortunate considering the win3x domain links had just started to get established on google results
