Intel 486DX "SL Enhanced" Practical Application?

It turns out that the 486SX2 and 486DX2 CPUs I've been using are actually the "S" versions, meaning that they are "SL Enhanced."

Does this mean only that they are power-saving CPUs that can run at 3.3v as well as 5v?

Just wondering if there's any performance-related difference between these and the "non-S" versions.

They cannot run at 3.3V.Compared to regular models they just support a set of power management technologies.

Notable feature is the SMM (System Management Mode) which although designed for power management purposes can be used for some non-PM purposes too.
