I am working on an old gateway 133 mhz pentium machine. I can't get it to boot from the hard drive. I can using a 4gig compact flash. It dectects the 4gig drive fine.

I booted it with a 6.22 dos disk, and fdisk found the drive and i made a primary and extended partitions. I then installed dos on the c drive just fine.

After installing and rebooting it just hangs after the system beep. I have taken all the cards out except the video, disconnected the cd drive, swaped ram dimms, and different ide cables. It still does it.

Does it have a bad motherboard? Am i missing something else?

Agree ! Some Gateways were really nice machines !

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
