Will graphic card Cirrus Logic cl-gd5401-42ac-b work in IBM XT 8-bit motherboard as well as in 386SX motherboard?

I have HLH386SX motherboard (Nic Technology) and try to buy Cirrus Logic graphic card at good price. I hope it will work. I hope it will work in 8-bit ISA slot on TD-20 Turbo XT motherboard (4.77MHza IBM XT based on 8088 CPU).

Yes, it will most likely work.

The GD5401 is a rebranded Acumos AVGA1 chip from when Cirrus bought Acumos. I use a card with that chip in the 8 bit slot of my 286 and it works well.

There's even a driver for windows 3.x to use a resolution of 800x600 with 16 colors on the card, however it's pretty slow.

Is Herkules Proton PT6121T faster and better card? I can buy it too.

That is not a VGA card . It will not work with VGA software . It will require a monitor compatible with Hercules monochrome graphics standard . If memory serves, an MDA compatible monitor will work .

The AVGA1 / CL-GD5401 runs well in a 386. Also in 8bit. I have built one for myself.
