Does anyone know how to get these PCI/ISA PnP Ethernet cards to work in Windows 98? 🤔
The utility doesn't even detect them. I had no problem with D-Link DE-220 series card.

The utility is dated from 1996 and the cards from 1997 or later .
Maybe a later utility that works can be found her https://web.archive.org/web/20010519084441/ht … s/support/10mb/
EDIT : Sorry, I just realized none of the links actually work . 🙁

EDIT2: This one works : https://web.archive.org/web/20010519090745/ht … pport/ethernet/ 😀

EDIT3: This self-extrator contains a newer version of the rlset utility for the ISA card https://web.archive.org/web/20010524042302/ht … np/rlutl231.exe

You shouldn't need any utility for the PCI card. You're saying neither the BIOS nor OS detect that a PCI card is even there?

That's a good point. The PCI one should be detected by Windows and the BIOS in all cases.

Some (many?) network cards could be set to non PnP mode (the DE220 is one of those, no idea about the Compex that you have), which prevents Windows from automatically detecting them . The configuration utility still detects the card in that case and should allow setting it back to PnP mode, if desired . If non PnP (jumperless config) is selected, resources like port address and IRQ will need to be set manually in the configuration utility . The Windows add new hardware wizard will then need to be invoked manually in order to detect the card as a non PnP device . Finally, the port address and IRQ choices made in the configuration utility will need replicated in device manager for the card to work properly .

Sorry if you already knew all that .

Thank you very much! The new version of utility solved all of my problems 😀
