Did you have problems with it?

It doesn't show anything on vga or DVI
I wanted to exchange the Matrox and Voodoo combination because voodoo 2 cards are hard to find or expensive. 😅

I run a FX5500 in my Intel PR440FX socket 8 motherboard its a 1996 vintage, works perfect.

Can you tell me what's my issue?
Do you have the same graphics card or a different manufacturer?

It's a lottery. They may or may not work on some Socket 7 mobos. For example I can't boot Riva TNT2 PCI on my 430FX board, but Voodoo 3 PCI will boot fine. But you have much higher chances with 430HX or 430TX.

What motherboard are you trying your graphics card on? PCI slots can come in two voltages 5V and 3.3V with the appropriate notches so you cannot plug 5V card into 3.3V slot and vice-versa. Although your graphics card appears to be universal (has both notches), there could be some compatibility issues.

I own a VisionTek HD3450 PCI version and it did not work on any 486 motherboard with PCI socket that I've tried and even on newer motherboard with Pentium 4 it was kind of half-working: Windows 7 shows image, but it'll stay blank during POST. The only machine that it works reliably is an IBM Personal Computer 300GL (Pentium 3).

I tried it with a GA-586TX-3 Motherboard

Then you're out of luck. These chinese cards are very finicky.

How can I know if it's a Chinese card instead of original NVIDIA?

So witch Cards are most compatible for my motherboard and easy to get?
It would be fine if the next card is like a Radeon 7000 or faster. I want to play Dos - Win98 games with best possible Graphics 😉

Considering the limitations of that PCI motherboard, your best bet would, unfortunately (price-wise) be a Voodoo2 or Voodoo 3 .

Windows 9x gaming was mostly an AGP affair (Voodoos being the exception, along with other early 3D cards) . A PCI Radeon 7000, 9000 or 9250 should work under DOS (compatibility will likely not be as good as your Matrox), but Windows performance is difficult to gauge . Most versions of these cards have a 64-bit memory bus and their drivers were designed with faster CPUs than yours in mind .

What about the Matrox G400-500 series for pci?

Possibly. The Matrox G200 (G100 is crap) might also fit the bill. They had issues with OpenGL in the beginning. Later drivers might have fixed that . Performance is between Voodoo and 2, I have heard.

In the end, getting an AGP capable board and selling the one you have might be both easier and cheaper.

Ok then i search for a AGP supported Board.
Currently the GA 586TX 3 seems to be Baby AT formfactor And I remember that 20 years ago I had a computer With K6 2 333 MHz on ALi Aladin chipset and a Rage Xpert99 32Mb graphics card.

Are there smaller ATX boards who could fit in my case?
