Who owns that Motherboard and can tell me witch pci graphics runs without problems?
It has to be faster than my Matrox Mystique/Voodoo1 combo.
The FX5500 pci didn't work so I had to send it back.

My Retrosystems:
PIII on GA-6BA running Win98SE
AMD K6 233 on GA-586HX with Win95
Tandon 286-8MHZ Running DOS 6.22 on XTIDE-CF
M326 486DLC + 4c87dlc (Dos+Win3.11)
ECS UM4980 AMD DX2 80 5V (Dos & Win3.11)

I would rather grab a V3 / Banshee PCI they will offer you a decent Performance even if you are on 66Mhz Bus.
But they are rather expensive.
As you already have decent Primary Graphics i would swap V1 with V2 😉 and problem is solved.

A TNT2 PCI would be ok, and some times one can get them for very cheap pricing.
A Matrox G400 or a Savage 4 will also suffice. ( Beware of LT Versions 😀)
Or a Rage 128 ? maybe ?
All Cards anyway will be limited by your CPU Power.

From your other thread, your CPU was a K6-2/400. I have used a K6-3/400 for a while and had it matched with some 16MB (or perhaps even 8MB, can't remember) AGP card for 2D and a 12MB Voodoo 2 (single card) for all the 3D stuff. Of course your board doesn't have AGP so a PCI card would have to do.
I'd agree with the list Matze79 provided. Anything faster is probably not gonna bring you a whole lot of extra performance. Even a TNT2 M64 or any PCI Vanta (if these exist at all) should be good enough for your particular rig. Or get some GF2MX PCI and you should be good.

Whats missing in your collections?

If the card is faster like the Ati 7000-9000 series it doesn't matter either.
A GF2 or 4 would be great but finding one (for example Ebay) is very difficult and the price is very high. I am looking for one witch does not cost more than 30€ (and we don't know if the card is broken) .
That's why I first tried the Axle FX5500 256mb pci from Amazon for around 25€ but the Pc didn't even go in POST.
I bought it because saw a YouTube video by PhilsComputerLab running a similar Card on a Socket7 system 😅

In one of the videos Phil had with that card, he reported that they don't seem to work on boards that don't have an AGP slot.

There are no guarantees when mixing newer hardware with older. As I mentioned before, I have a HIS 9250 128 meg PCI card that works fine with my Biostar MB8500 with a K6-2+ 500. That same card won't work with an Asus TXP4 (all else the same), though the boards are nearly identical physically, and have the same chipset. The TXP4 won't even POST with that card.

So I suggest that the card should not have a higher pci version than 2.1 ?

My latest experiment with my TXP4 is one of these: a 64 megabyte PNY Technologies Quadro NVS 280. I chose it because of price, and I wanted a card capable of running 3D Mark 2001. I can tell you this much - the machine give a normal POST beep with it installed. But the seller didn't mention that the output was DMS-59 (it was listed as DVI), and until today, I didn't know that existed. So until I get an adapter, I cannot hook up a monitor to it. And it's now so obsolete that the nearby Staples doesn't have one . Which is probably just as well, if they did they would have wanted a fortune for it, and I got one on Ebay for just under $5.00 shipped.

Did the system boot up (maybe with windows start sound)? Witch OS do you use (i have win98Se installed)?
The nvs 280 seems to be a FX5200 for professional working like Cad on two monitors at the same time.

I put the Matrox G200 back in, and was able to install the Nvidia card using the 56.64 driver that Phil has hosted here: https://www.philscomputerlab.com/nvidia-9x-gr … cs-drivers.html
Everything looks good, but I still cannot connect a monitor to it until I get the adapter that I ordered on Ebay. There is a computer store here in town that might have had one, but when I drove there this morning I discovered that they aren't open on Saturdays right now because of Covid-19. I guess I should have called first, but as they are a computer store I thought for sure they would have put the fact that they aren't open on Saturdays on the web.

Yes, that's the one. Now that I have the proper adapter, I can see that the one I have is working well, and I got a score of 2,108 on 3D Mark 2000, and a score of 2,355 on 3D Mark 99 Max.
System is an Asus TXP4 K6-2+ 500 @ 500, 256 megabytes of SDRAM, Windows 98SE, Quadro NVS 280, and a Sound Blaster Live SB0220.
