I just got an Acer VI9 386/486 VLB motherboard. There are jumpers for a 486DX and 486DX2. I assume if I set the motherboard for a 486DX/33 I can put in Pentium Overdrive CPU. I would just like to know if anyone can verify this.

Thanks!

Based on the pictures you posted on the other thread it seems that board has a regular 168-pin 486 socket. The Pentium Overdrive has 237 pins and so it requires a Socket 2/Socket 3 to fit.

Based on that I am just going to stick with the Cyrix 486DX2/80 that came with it. Thanks for the info.

Yes, for an Intel pentium overdrive 83mhz just set the motherboard jumpers up for a 486dx-33.

I heard about that before, but take a look at the pictures of his board in the other thread. There are several components right next to the CPU socket, so the extra row of pins on each side of the POD that would hang out of the socket may be blocked by or even short nearby components.
