Odd. No have never seen anything exactly like that. Could be the game engine is rendering the cutscenes different than a regular video player like VLC would.

Theory: the frames are being rendered as four textures and the ST co-ords are slightly off causing wrap-around, but nobody noticed because in 2005 the game was never played at a high enough resolution to matter.

The resolution is irrelevant. Besides the fact that changing to the lowest resolution of 480p doesn't correct the issue the cutscenes are always rendered at a certain resolution regardless of what it is set at for gameplay.

It's just so strange to me that only some of the cutscenes have this issue. I wonder if replacing the bink.dll file could correct this? I'll have to try and get on Windows 7 to see if I have the issue there too.

So I've tried in Windows 7 instead of the native XP and still have the issue. I've also tried replacing the binkw32.dll file with all the variants uploaded on Vogons to no avail. What's interesting is that while looking at walkthroughs on YouTube I've seen this one with the exact issue-
