So, I was looking for an older version of AFUDOS bios flashing program, and having trouble locating any version.

And seems to be none on vogonsdrivers.com either.

- Anyone know of a secure source for say 'AFUDOS236ES.zip' or 'AFUDOS229ES.zip' or any normal versions, 200-300 series etc ?

Or ANY version at all ? Yes, I DID find a couple in a zip here on vogons, but would prefer the older versions.
(Re: Repository of AMI flash utilities )

(the 'ES'-part of those filename is supposedly an engineering version of the program, which presumably can do more things than normal/override stuff for downgrading a bios etc perhaps?)

I have AFUDOS236.ZIP, but it's not the ES version. I think AFUDOS was generally used for ASUS BIOS flashes, among other things. That's where I got it.

Hmm, that site looked really weird - do you know anything about it ? Is it 'safe' etc ?

The files I just downloaded from there are safe, as far as Zone Alarm is concerned

Which motherboard do you need if for ? I have 2.36 and 2.36ES and doing a Hex compare there is a 1 bit difference between them. What does that One bit difference do ? BTW the 2.36 (non ES) actual has same exact header:
plain: AMI Firmware Update Utility - Version 1.19.(ASUS V2.36ES(07.08.31BA)).(ASUS V2.36(07.08.31BA))...Copyright (C)2003
ES: AMI Firmware Update Utility - Version 1.19.(ASUS V2.36ES(07.08.31BA)).(ASUS V2.36(07.08.31BA))...Copyright (C)2003

added: the header in the plain 229 also says it is ES version:
AMI Firmware Update Utility - Version 1.19.(ASUS V2.29ES(07.03.02BA)).(ASUS V2.29(07.03.02BA))...Copyright (C)2003
EDIT/add: grabbed regular files from http://ftp.tekwind.co.jp/pub/asustw/mb/flash/, grabbed the zip labeled ES from http://sabugo.net76.net/bios/.

Thankyou all for replies!

At the moment, the purpose is crossflashing a 'special'/altered ASUS bios for a P6T deluxe V2 motherboard.
I have no idea what the difference between the 2 versions of 2.36 really is though.

But that('ES') is one of the versions that was recommended, so...
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthrea … n-Thread/page49

Perhaps it turns off some check/safety measures, vs current bios version /motherboard in some way, to allow for flashing any/'incorrect' bios ?

PS: I have now found a few other normal afudos-versions, on the asus.com site, but they each are located under a specific (old!) mobo's support page.
If looking for a particular version of the program, you'll have to know which mobo uses it, 🤣 😛
...as searching gives zero results there, go figure : https://www.asus.com/search/results.aspx?SearchKey=afudos

So when that support page goes bye-bye, there is no central download list/repository apparantly... (?)
Oh well...

Ok so you are cross flashing a mobo for the purpose of OC a bit more. One thing: if the original 236 has ES in the header (as in my previous reply) then it should work since the forum thread just mentions using 236ES and had a dead link to a 236 with ES in header. Just saying it could be same, if not you have the one byte change version too if you DL'd both of my links. Try them both but be sure to use the proper command (as stated in that forum link, if not it will fail) based on the exact flasher name and exact BIO file name. Good luck !
