Hi, I've got a cable that came in a bag of random electronics/computer stuff from a thrift store a few years ago and was hoping someone might recognise it and help identify it! It appears to be a DB25 male (parallel port) to DIP16 male (IC socket) cable, but I have little idea what it could have originally been for, specifically. Photos below:

It's cool to have I just wish I knew what it was originally intended for 😉

(One sure-fire way to find out what it is for would be to cannibalize it to make a new cable. Then Murphy's law dictates that it's need would become obvious).

My only idea was that it was to attach a PC to some microcontroller trainer circuit or somesuch, but I think that's probably not what it was for in this case.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Is there a female dip socket on the other side? If so, it could be a logic analyzer of some kind
