So I just received the Pacific Computers Portable PCIII that I ordered.

The system takes a baby AT motherboard but there are only 4 slots available due to the original PSU taking up too much space.

The motherboard is currently a SIS based ISA/VLB board with a 486DX-50 CPU.

Somebody obviously replaced the motherboard in this thing at some point.

The VLB slots cannot be used and it requires a video card with a special connection for the built-in LCD. I may replace the LCD for a much better one but just trying to figure other stuff out first.

If I use a pico ATX PSU with an ATX to AT adapter that should free up plenty of room for me to add more expansion slots.

The pico PSUs are 12v so I would also need to get an external 12v power brick but those are readily available.

The pico PSU I would be using would be one of the 240w models.

Just wondering if the amperage on the 3.3v and 5v rails is going to be enough. I would probably stick to a socket 3 PCI / ISA board so I don't think it would be a problem.

I almost exclusively use them, generic Chinese ones rated 180W. Make sure that your model has overvoltage protection chip - you can read markings of the chips on the PCB and look at datasheets. But if you are using branded and expensive ones I guess you can trust the description. I had no problems with 386 and 486 mainboards, P1 with Voodoo1 was OK, K6 with Voodoo2 seemed to be at the limit and Voodoo2 SLI was definitely too much. So 5V rail is limited. 3.3V doesn't matter with AT mainboard.
