Just need a quick check / verification of what the Windows XP general tab lists a K6-2+ as.

Are you talking about what right click on My computer > Properties says on the main screen ? iirc my K6-2 450 says AMD 5x86 or similar and not much else on that top line (is not a K6-2+ but K6-2)
but could be wrong as my memory is not that sharp anymore 🙁 Have the box in storage and am going out of town tonight. Will try to dig it out this weekend and take a screen shot.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Yep, that is th screen. XP should show K6-2 for K6-2, but not sure if it detects K6-2+ properly.

I could always do a quick test build to find out.

It's probably down more to that BIOS as AFAIK WXP will report whatever CPUID 80000002/80000003/80000004 reports. I would not be surprised if the same CPU was reported differently on different motherboards!
