Hi, I am working on my Gateway Pentium-3 , 933mhz computer.
Its build date is 2001

It has an Intel motherboard with 815 chipset.
And AGP slot ( Not sure what speed )

I would like a good video card from about this time.
That will play the most games in good quality.

I am Running Win98se with SP3

I have installed a Sound Blaster live.

I have 512mb PC-133 ram.

Some sort of R200 Radeon? I run a 8500@9100 on a Celeron 1100A@1466 and it seems well balanced. As you have a slower CPU a 9000 or 9200 will probably be fine.
Or a Geforce3.
Even the often derided Geforce4MX is not that bad in my opinion* (assuming we are talking about a DDR/128bit bus version). In my tests a MX440 performed the same as a GF2 Ti running at Ultra clocks.

*Of course you have to consider it as a fancy GF2 and not a true GF4

I think Geforce3 would be an ideal match.

Check out DOSBox Distro:

a lightweight Linux distro (tinycore) which boots off a usb flash drive and goes straight to DOSBox.

+1 for the GeForce2 GTS. Good match for the CPU, perfect compatibility for Windows 98 games, and great performance at 1024x768x32. GeForce2 Ti is also good if you're looking for a little extra speed. ForceWare 45.23 works well with these.

Nice system, by the way. Always been a fan of Gateways 👍

I have a similar system, first with a GF3 and now with an 8500. they are both good, compatible and fast cards with good focus for a system from 2001. The 8500 is a bit faster and has a bit better graphics quality and it is a bit more "special".

GeForce 2 would do the job
Or Ati rage 128 was also popular in that time or matrix g400
