So I picked up a decent looking XPS P90 from a recycler I buy stuff from semi-regularly for $20. Mostly got it for the Teac 3.5/5.25 combo drive but it turns out it was a decent configuration at one point - CT1740 SB 16, Number Nine GXE64 Pro, 128MB of RAM. Unfortunately, before it got to the recycler someone completely cut and removed all of the power supply wires (except for the main power button cord), as well as the wires to the front panel lights.

One of my friends is helping me rewire the power supply but because all of the connectors are gone, I was hoping somebody on the boards had a similar system that they could take pictures of the inside. Particularly looking for the wire colors/pinouts for the three motherboard power connections. I figure there are differences from standard AT on this board.

Thanks to anyone for any help!

What XPS model number ? Is it a true XPS P90 model ? There should be a model number on the case somewhere. My old XPS has a label with model number on the back, some it is on the front.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Hi, yes it is a true XPS P90. Sorry for not clarifying.

Ok great ! I have many of the old Dell pages from archive org indexed. Hopefully this matches your board.
Unfortunately there are no good pictures of the inside of the front panel....
Here is one main page: http://web.archive.org/web/19961222115021/htt … PMT/default.htm
The board layout: http://web.archive.org/web/19961231003117/htt … MT/00000004.htm

added: According to this: http://web.archive.org/web/19970605232119/htt … sp/flshbios.htm
this is the last BIOS for it: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drive … driverid=r18651

Those pages do have some helpful info, thanks! I'm still holding out that someone with this exact same system can share some pictures of the inside motherboard connections though.

Funnily enough, I did pick up a Dell Dimension P90t (exact same case) from the same recycler today. This one works great and is similar but the board is ATX, not AT. Close but yet so far.

I found that earlier, thank you! Thankfully the P90t works great, no issues with that one =)

I've actually got this system here in my possession now (cut leads and all) and I've got some more info to add:

Big surprise, it's an Intel reference board. Intel Premiere (Plato) to be exact. This means I was able to dig up the manual for the board and get proper pinouts needed for the power supply connectors. I'll attach the board's manual to this post. Back in the 90s Dell was a big abuser of rebadging off the shelf hardware, both desktops and laptops, albeit with different power connections now and then (notice Intel boards have two power connector options? Yeah).

I also found I have an entire 2nd board that'd fir this machine that came as a lot of random stuff. That lot also included a couple boxes of power supplies so with any luck, I'll have a spare power supply, too. Worst case now that I have pinouts I can hack something else together.
