I've picked up a Spaceball 3000 for cheap, and I'm looking for the Spaceware software for Win9x/DOS.

These were originally made by Spacetec, which as I understand it was bought out by 3DConnexion/Logitech. I've trawled spacetec.com and 3Dconnexion.com on Wayback, with no success. The closest to the era I've found is a driver CD for the SpaceOrb 360 game controller, which is up on archive.org as well as Vogons Drivers. But that software isn't compatible.

Many people have asked this question in the 3Dconnexion forum, where the usual answer from company reps is "buy a newer model." Nice.

There are some 3003's on ebay with driver CDs included - but that would cost me over $100. I'm actually going to ask the seller if he'll upload them, but it might be a big ask.

I don't suppose anyone has one of these CDs laying around?

Kind of hard to find them, but did you search for Labtec Spaceball 3003 FLX?

Seems the drivers were not available online from HP atleast:
https://web.archive.org/web/20040925212423/ht … nload/6960.html
Laptec site offered downloads for specific software:
https://web.archive.org/web/20000823235542/ht … uct/3d/down.cfm

Even back in 2005 people were asking about drivers:
https://community.sw.siemens.com/s/question/0 … ded-desperately

Which operating system/software are you intending to use the device for?

Hmm I hadn't gone down the HP and Labtec paths!

I'll be using this on Win98. No particular software in mind - I'd just like to get their bundled tutorial/demo software going and have a play for starters. All going well I'd like to see how I go using it as a game controller, but I'm not sure if this particular hardware + my OS will be amenable to that. Moving to XP or Linux opens up access to some open source projects.

He did! And he was a really nice guy. Thank you bradlyp.

I've now uploaded them here: https://archive.org/details/spacetec-imc-spaceware

Link contains the software for Win98 and Unix, supporting the Spaceball 2003, Spaceball 3003, SpaceController and SpaceOrb 360. Happy days 😀
