can you just make multiple 64gb partitions on say a 400gb hdd to solve windows LBA limitations?

This is BIOS limitation. If you can put your parameters manually, then with maximum allowable sector count you can just use only 64gb usable space. Is you autodedect your hard drive, you will crash. It is absolutely nothing to do with Windows limitation. But motherboard LBA implementation. I sugest yo have a Award bios.

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

This gives a a good overview of the different limitations that exist
http://www.dewassoc.com/kbase/hard_drives/har … ze_barriers.htm

But basically you'll hit 2 big ones with a 400GB drive
Your 64GB BIOS limit. Options are upgrading bios with something that supports larger drives like XT-IDE or Dive overlay software, something like
EZ-Drive Dynamic Drive Overlay

Win98's 128 GB limit due to LBA 128 , Hacked drivers may exist? never looked into it.

Plus you have the obvious problem of dos/windows only supporting enough drive's for letters in the alphabet, So 24 once we remove a: and b:

You can also use SeaTools to limit the size of the harddrive:

Again, not that issue of using OS to support large hard drive on pentium boards. The issue is some of them only can support hard drive size up to 8GB and 64GB comes from bios on pentium boards.

You can use a hard drive if you can configure the bios to use 32GB or 64GB and partition that and it will be up to 64GB partition even hard drive is larger than that, still work. One more thing, DOS only can do 2GB partition size only up to 4 partitions at 2GB each, if you have in mind to have pure DOS even you have 64GB hard drive in use.

Pentium is not speedy on windows 95. PII is best fit with 95 and 98SE.
