Hi,
I am building a 486 computer.
I built it first outside the case to check if everything worked and it did, at least i got into the bios with the mb, video card, ram and cpu. But now that the computer is in the case, I get one long and three short beeps. For an award bios that is a video card error. I have checked with two different Cirrus Logic 5428 now, both known working. and changed VLB slots and everything. I also added a wait state to the VLB trough jumpers. but nothing helps.
What can this be?

CPU AMD 486 DX4 100
MB FIC 486-pvt
Video CL 5428 1mb
8mb ram
Winbond controller card.

Soo after a lot of swearing and searching for the fault. I tested the CRT screen on another similar computer. And it did not work, the CRT did not turn on. But if i took the VGA connector out it would turn on and tell me to plug it in. So i found the fault pretty fast after that. I have managed to short one of the VGA connector pins. Pushed it into the grounding shroud so well that it would not show by just looking at it fast. Bent out the pin, now everything works. 😁
