Don't know if I'm on the right sub, but here we go

I'm trying to update my mobo(SL-586V ART REV:E), so I can get 2 HDD (40 and 80GB) working. The mobo itself can't detect anything above 8GB with the original BIOS. Tried a few files that I found but no success.

Anyone knows/have an update file that could help me? I really want to stick 1 or 2 HDD above 8GB in this rig.

Here is a list of 430TX boards with Award BIOS: http://www.win3x.org/uh19/motherboard/result/ … iosIds=%5B75%5D
Finding an updated one from your board brand might be impossible, so your second best option is to find one from another board. Look up the part number of the super I/O chip, it needs to match your board.
The Freetech P5F78 seems to be a good start, dated 1998, same Winbond W877 super I/O.

I believe this is your board, if you could dump the current BIOS you have (and maybe even a photo of the board), that would be appreciated.

Nevertheless, I'll look and see if I can find more info on your board.

It depends if you knowing the original URL from back in the day.. If you know that, you have an option to look at it on archive.org.. Maybe you find a working link or a file name where to google at.

~ At least it can do black and white~

I can't take pictures from the board atm, but here all resources I found about the board and chipset.

We have the board documented here http://www.win3x.org/uh19/motherboard/show/2487 but there are many things missing.

First of all, please backup your bios so we can add it to our page for backup purposes.
As for the BIOS you're trying to flash on it, I'm sure it's the right one, or pretty close (it says "586V rev G". Does that mean that it's the BIOS rev G or for the motherboard rev G ?).
You can always try to force the update using a program called "uniflash" (available here http://www.win3x.org/win3board/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=19455).
Or maye it's just the flash program version that's too old or too new ? You may need to try a different version of awdflash.exe.

Now, there's a big disclaimer : if it's not the right BIOS there's a risk of bricking your motherboard. To recover from this you'll to backup your old BIOS first and something else (a programmer like the TL866 or another motherboard while doing the "hotflash" method) to reprogram the old BIOS to the rom.
But considering they both say "586V" and that their POST string is similar I think it's unlikely to happen.

Looks like a slightly different BIOS available here? File name is 586v-g.bin. https://www.hwdrivers.com/old-bios/sanli

Rest assured that I'll make a backup and sent it to you guys. Next week I'll disassemble the rig and dump the bin file.

If you have revision E (I just noticed you said so) then it lists vp1-e.bin as the correct BIOS.

Nice catch Repo, I didn't realized that myself. I'll just wait to dump the bios and try that version vp1-e.bin
