I`m planning a mid-2000`s build based on P4.
Found this interesting board - GIGABYTE GA-G41M-Combo with wide range of CPU support, from some P4`s up to Core 2 Quad.

But, according to official web site it supports only three P4 cpus - P4 505J, 506 and 520.

I wonder is it possible to run some higher P4 cpu, Pentium 4 541 for example? Or may be P4 6xx?

If the voltages and TDP are about the same I'd say there is a chance - I've seen crazier things 😁
Hyperthreading OTOH could pose a problem.
That said, it would be nice to know why exactly these higher ones aren't supported. And it would be even nicer to find some comparison boards (with similar chipset etc).

At a minimum you will need a custom BIOS (microcodes for your chosen CPUs at least), and who knows what else.

EDIT: It seems Gigabyte has a whole bunch (=dozens!) of these G41-based boards and many (most?) of them support many other P4 models beyond those three. So Idk why this one has only those listed.
