I did have to deep-six a GD5429 for being very glitchy earlier. It's possible the chip itself is faulty. 🙁

Oh well, makes a good excuse to swap a '5429 in its place, right? 🤣 All you need is a hot air station and a known good GD5429 chip. (Or SMD removal alloy and a ton of SMD flux and two tons of patience.)

Are they that compatible?
I could definitely try this out.

The 5429 is fully pin-compatible with the 5428. I think the same video BIOS will work too, but I don't know how it will affect the performance.

As a precaution, if you're new to chip swapping then it's probably a good idea to practice on a scrap board first, or have someone else do it for you.

Life isn't long enough to re-enable every hidden option in every BIOS on every board... 🙁

I have had my fair share of chip swapping 😀
I always practice on scrap boards first before I try something new.

Thanks for the info about the 5429, that could come in very handy and a fun project to try : )

Have you tried invoking Speedsys with the /DSPDR switch?
eg. Speedsys /dspdr

To make it easier to change to cr2032, it would be better to remove diode CR3? Which then there is no need for diode and resistor on the battery holder?

As most that change to cr2032 don’t go back to rechargeable battery anyway.

Has anyone gotten a PODP5V63 or a PODP5V83 working on this board?

I can't seem to make my PODP5V83 work. I've gotten a partial boot screen a few times. Mostly just a black screen.

I acquired this board as part of a TechMedia barebones tower kit. I was lucky with no battery damage.
