I have an ASUS P2L97 slot 1 motherboard, and the USB ports are acting weird, but I'm not sure if the motherboard/chipset itself is buggy with USB, or if the ports themselves are bad.
To start off, a USB keyboard I plugged in worked fine in both ports. The issues arise when using flash drives. In Windows 2000, plugging in a low capacity drive (~130MB) seems to work fine, but plugging in a larger drive (64GB) causes Windows to hang for several seconds and go non-responsive, before finally detecting the drive. Flash drives do not work in 9front at all, but again USB keyboards work. In Syllable, the same issues as Windows 2000 occur; low capacity drive works, but higher capacity causes hang.
Given that a USB keyboard works in all OSes I've tested, could it be a motherboard/chipset thing, or are the ports fried?
I should mention I've tried both the latest stable BIOS and the latest beta BIOS.
I can provide more information or tests if necessary.
