I'm trying to make a identical set of 256mb sticks into a set of 128 and 256mb for a total of 384mb the motherboard doesn't support 512 but the thought is that it will support 384 based on repoman11's experience and the 768mb I was able to get into another motherboard that was only supposed to like 512mb anyway that's backstory, now on to the question

I have techpowerup spd tool here and I'm ready to edit the spd what values do I need to use to turn it into a single sided 128mb stick?

Tried a bunch of stuff didn't seem to have any effect. seems maybe I have to actually physically remove the chips? or am I editing the wrong thing?

Motherboard BIOS doesn't necessarily even care about SPD and just experimentally finds amount of memory and its organization. None of my boards care about SPD for example, except only for timing parameters.

I think you are right, because editing the spd seemed to have no effect. I think it's different on different memory types like simms for example are configured via those resistors on the corner. and some ddr types must use the spd more cause there are vids of people having success with spd editing
