So I grabbed one of those SMD tweezers. C146 appears to be fine. It gives off the same readings as C145.
I'm about to give up on this thing. If I had an oscilloscope or fox and hound, I might be able to figure out where the problem is.
A few years later....
I had the exact same problem with my CT 3980.
After months of troubleshooting I found that the problem was the multiplexer demultiplexer, the 74hct4053d chip.I replaced it and the card works perfectly fine now.
I swapped the 4053 IC with one from a working Awe64 value as its donor with no success at all. In my case, the problem is not that the left channel will not output ANY audio at all, but rather that PCM audio outputs perfectly on both channels, whereas OPL3 and emu8000 both output clear sound on the right, with almost no sound on the left.
Have any of you guys have had to deal with the same problem before?
Duh. I forgot to mention my card is a CT3980 😀
