This project almost fits the criteria of adalbert's List of open-source hw projects, but not exactly. Hence a new thread.

Chances are that Hackaday readers are familiar with Ted Yapo's 2019 Superconference talk already, but I encourage you to have a look if you somehow missed it.
UWB RADAR and LiDAR are mentioned as applications, but could perhaps be very useful for PC hardware as well...?
What would the application be on the PC side of things (if any)? I suppose for the older stuff you don't really need to go quite this far...

Alas, I just noticed this project has been discontinued atm. Anyone happen to know why?
Any similar projects out there? One is mentioned in the talk.

I'm not really an electronics guy myself and not involved in this project (the last time I successfully soldered anything was almost 30 years ago! 🤣)
I just find many of these hw projects extremely cool, adalbert's thread mentioned above is a good example - awesome stuff in there.
