I ordered 5 pcs of kudo68k's plipbox PCB here: https://github.com/kuro68k/plipbox

According to a post on git https://github.com/kuro68k/plipbox/issues/1 the circuit for RS232 connection to the Amiga requires 47mF 100nF and 330nF parts as well as MAX3221 transceiver. I actually have the passives but couldn't find MAX3221 but got in an order of SN35C3221EPWR which should do the job fine.

My question is, how does the RS232 part of this circuit work? I'm thinking this changes the RS232 signal to/from the Amiga to something TTL can handle, right? If that's true, then I think I can wire this up directly to the Serial port to configure the adapter?

Also, how does that work? What shell commands do I need?

I have no knowledge on this subject in particular. However I can help you with links. There are a lot of site out there that might be more helpfull to you. Perhaps you know the places, perhaps not.

http://www.vcfed.org/forum/forum.php
http://www.amiga.org/

There are a lot of other places around, however these are perhaps the best ones that I know about.

Mouser sell MAX3221 in all kinds, they have the one you need.
I dont know what the SN35C3221EPWR is. my googling failed on that part number.

Thanks, very useful! I actually managed to get the firmware flashed and connect to it over the virtual serial port.

Mouser is out of question for me due to shipping costs. The IC in question: https://cdn.ozdisan.com/ETicaret_Dosya/348021_4850776.pdf
