I may be upgrading my XP rig to something much newer, but unfortunately the board I have in mind doesn't have a floppy header. I'm hoping y'all have recommendations for a floppy to USB converter that doesn't break the bank and itself won't break later on down the line. Ideally I'd want one that plugs straight into a USB header on the mobo, as the board I have planned has three onboard headers and I only plan on using two. If it just has a regular type-a plug on it that's fine, having it go straight into the board is just a nice to have. 😀

They are about $10 on Ebay. They usually come with USB type A connectors soldered to the converter board, but I just soldered up a motherboard header cable on mine.

Ah, that's the answer I was afraid of. Oh well, guess I'll just have to find a header and bodge something together.

You can get pre-made USB-A to USB header cable.

Y'know, I completely forgot about something like that. They're a bit on the expensive side but I suppose that's expected.

If you've got one of those brackets (that take up a card slot) that add USB ports and plug into a motherboard header, you can take that apart. That's how I connect an internal USB floppy adapter.
