I think he means the broken off connector that's laying next to the computer. (on the right of the photo in the middle)

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Oh lmfao no that's not even apart of this computer its a USB 2 port, that's from my friends old pc chassis that I changed for him, my guy really threw his controller while it was plugged in playing fall guys a while back, therefore the broken usb header.

One more thing, the replacement Dallas battery I changed from a DS1287A to a DS12887A, that wouldn't make the "new" chip incompatible right? It's ashame the original one died, It was in fantastic condition.

According to the datasheet https://pdfserv.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/DS1 … 5-DS12C887A.pdf it should be a direct replacement.

I think you should just mod the original one, or the "new" one as you wish. google ds1287 battery mod , watch a few videos, it's easy.
Heck, before you attach a battery, take a voltage meter and measure the battery voltage.

some people keep the original battery attached. I like to cut the connection and attach the new battery directly to the chip.

The ds12887A is not fully compatible with the ds1287A. Here's an example:

If the BIOS did work with the old chip then the "new" one is likely the culprit

Send me your old Dallas chip, I'll mod it. I've done it for members here in the past. My charge is beer. One good 10% tallboy will do the trick. PM me if you want - it'll give me the motivation to do my own Pentium socket super 7 at the same time 😉
