Firstly sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place, there isn't a dedicated mac hardware section so I thought it more appropriate to post here.
I have an iMac G3 98, and a wallstreet or pismo powerbook (can't remember) as well G3. It turns out that both machines have the same defect, the processor board. I'm sure it's the board because I have other units, which I used the parts to test and come to this conclusion.
I don't want to just have to buy another card as they are rare and expensive. I suspect it may be a simple problem with capacitors, but before ordering new capacitors, I would like to know if anyone has had this experience.
Symptoms:
The powerbook will not turn on, sometimes the green led lights up, and occasionally it works normally (but very slow)
Imac: Turns on, orange light, sometimes you hear the startup sound that stops abruptly.
