Given the difficulty of finding the chips in question in DIL version, I decided to build this adapter and thus recover the good chips from the defective 30 pinn RAMs, what do you think?

The reason I never bothered is because it only works on motherboard which have the combination DIP-16/DIP-18 sockets. If the board just has normal DIP-18 sockets the adapters won't fit
Precisely. I have compaq memory expansion board by kingston, only way to fit is original 1MB x 1bit dip memory. Can make adapters but the pins has to be SMT with width of the SOJ 1MB x 1bit on top.
Problem is where to find pins that is SMT (bent solder pad).

i found smd to dip pins, but the company is in japan, i am waiting for a reply from the local supplier if they can send me a sample to create a DIP-SOJ adapter
