You are welcome. I am still in the process of assembling my X48 build. I got the IX48 GT3, 2 kits of 8 and 16 GB of DDR3-1600 dual sided dimms, period correct 40gb SSD from Intel which is way too small, E8600 and QX9650 CPU's and 2 Radeon 4890 1gb which can be down clocked to 4870 levels. The only thing missing is the time to start building the ultimate LGA775/last motherboard mass manufactured by Abit build!

Hi thanks so much for your share. I'm doing the last steps to finish my build about ix48 GT3. Just waiting by 4x2 GB crucial ballistix tactical tracer.
At the moment:
ABIT ix48 GT3
Q9650
Zalman cnps 9500 led
Corsair vengeance 2x2 gb DDR3 1600 (version 7.13, this is very important because with 2x2 GB Corsair Vegeance DDR3 1600 version 5.14 system not boot)
Asus GT1030 2gb DDR 5 (not so good but with 30 watts TDP I think is sufficient)
Sound blaster audigy 2 zs
Corsair 450M as power supply is perfect for this configuration
SSD Kingston A400 120 GB for OS
In the future I will buy another to try a raid

Nd22 I think are no significant differences between q9650 and qx9650....I think q9650 is the right choice...if you not plan oc q9550s with 65w TDP will be an option to consider

Hi all 😁 i have good news
Is possible run abit ix48 gt3 with 10 GB of RAM.....im testing know the stability of the system
At the moment i run at 1066 mhz of speed to get full compatibility with all dims.
In real the only dims i can boot with 1333 fsb processors are:
kingston kvr1333c9 and Corsair Vengeance 1600c9 version 7.3 (the same dims version 5 dont boot)
The only way i forced the others dimms to work are setting dram speed to 1066, if i clean cmos i have to put again one of the dims that i have succefull boot and than i can use the others.
With 8 gb ram im success with fsb:dram ratio at 1:1.60 (1333:1066) and i oc cpu up to 3.66 (407 FSB) and ram speed at 1300 mhz without problems. I just set cpu offset to 0.03 volts but i think there is no problems if you keep original vcore and cpu offset to 0.00....i will try to see the stability system

X48 should be fine with 4 Gb DDR3 modules, so it's possible to upgrade for 16 Gb total.

Depends of motherboard manufacturer.....yes x48 in real can up to 16 gb ram. im tried 12 gb....mobo boots continuous many times....post screen but dont recognise 12 gb of ram and dont go to operating system. but works fine with 10 gb....i will try others dims to check if is possible run with 12 or 16 gb.....at the moment i tried 2 x 2 gb corsair and 2 x 4 gb kingston

I will try to assemble my build around IX48 GT3 next weekend if time allows! I also got something really special...
I have now a standard Q9650 with 89W TDP and really want to use a CPU that does not exceed a TDP of 100W! So QX9650 is ruled out so is the QX9770 - the only LGA775 processor with a native 1600mhz bus. I also have an E8600 which is the highest clock Core 2 duo and has a TDP of only 65W and I was thinking of building the highest performance dual core LGA775 platform to have the best performance in 2006-2007 games. To my knowledge Supreme commander is the only game that truly utilizes 4 cores processor from all the games that came out in that period.
