Not really *old* hardware, but here goes. Hope that someone who has experience with simple analog audio circuits can shed some light on this. 😀
I bought these Logitech Z150 Speakers as I was looking for a simple, compact set that has both a Headphone Out and an Aux-In. Unfortunately, only after I connected them, I realized that when anything is plugged into the front Aux-In jack, the normal input from the main 3.5mm connector is muted. My previous Z200 set behaved differently - both inputs could play simultaneously. Not that I ever need them to play at the same time, but this means that I cannot leave both computers connected statically, and instead have to plug/unplug which is a bit annoying.
I can try to return them and get a different model (maybe the Z200 again), but for such small and cheap speakers I don't mind trying some tinkering, just as a learning experience. If I open them up - how simple should it be to disable the mute functionality of the Aux-In jack? Does it typically require soldering/desoldering, or cutting some trace, or what?
