I did a quick count and have about 70 functional desktop video cards, about half Nvidia, the remainder a mixture of IBM, Matrox, ATI, Hercules, S3 and 3Dfx.

Is this too much voodoo?

I have been wondering this for a while so finally setup a spreadsheet and have less than I thought 😀

Only 106 GPUs with a total GPU memory size of 87.4 GB

retardware wrote on 2021-11-01, 22:46:

Wow, that averages to 844MB/card.

This made me wonder about my average system memory

Only 51 systems with a total memory size of 542.59 GB which is an average of 10.64 GB per system

There's a couple of nice lists on page 2 with manufacturers that are new to me. Have saved them in my todo list for eventually researching and adding to my website (still adding NVidia and ATI cards from long dead companies, getting a lot of use out of archive.org, my most valued resource for cards from around 96 and later)

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

Wow! This makes me guess you probably own a big gaming/internet cafe, with a room dedicated to retro gaming 😀
As I am currently dismantling one after the next retro computer for getting rid of the parts, my average system memory constantly rises 👍

No, I have most of the systems I have ever owned and don't really game at all. I mainly use them to develop SIV and keep the old ones so I can use them to address issues.

I have acquired a number of video cards these last few years, but not because I’m a collector. I’ve tried to buy cards to improve video quality and performance of various vintage OS’s on relatively modern motherboards/CPUs. Here is a list of 22 in my inventory (not counting integrated graphics on motherboards):

PCI
- ATI Graphics Ultra Pro (Mach 32, 2MB); my go to card for Windows 2.x, OS/2 1.x, and Solaris
- Cirrus Logic CL-DG5446 (2MB); my go to card for Windows MME (3.0a)
- Compaq QVision Q2000+ (Matrox Impression+, 4MB); my go to card for Windows NT 3.1
- Diamond Stealth 64 DRAM (Trio64, 2MB)
- Matrox Millennium (4MB); my go to card for OS/2 2.1 and Apple Rhapsody
- Matrox G200 (8MB); my go to card for Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 3.51
- Matrox G2+ Dual (16MB)
- Tseng ET4000 (2MB)

AGP
- ATI Radeon HD2600 XT (256MB)
- ATI Xpert 2000 (32MB)
- Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 (128MB); it came in a Dell mini-tower

PCI-E
- ATI Radeon HD 5570 (512MB); my go to card for OS X Snow Leopard
- ATI Radeon X600 (128MB)
- ATI Radeon X800 XL (256MB); my go to card for Windows 98 and Windows Me
- ATI Radeon X1900 GT (256MB)
- Matrox G550 (32MB, PCI-E x1); my go to card for OS/2 Warp
- Nvidia GeForce 6800 GS (256MB); my go to card for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0
- Nvidia GT 640 (1GB); my go to card for OS X High Sierra
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti (2GB); my primary PC’s GPU
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 (2GB); my son’s PC’s GPU
- Nvidia Quadro 4000 (2GB); my go to card for Windows 2000 and Windows XP (for now)
- Nvidia Quadro FX 1300 (128MB)

After years of downsizing I still have around 50+ cards (ISA, VLB, EISA, PCI, AGP and PCI-E).
Still way too much stuff!

That depends. If not in original boxes, this many don't take up too much space. If you are a collercor, it's not all that many.

If you just want to keep a couple of PC-s running and have some spare parts, then yes, I wouldn't keep more than 2 spare graphics cards for each.

I collected cards and the boxed ones took a lot of space. Those, along with some "rarer" stuff, were easily sold, but since nowadays I just want to enjoy old times and keep it to a minimum, I still have too many (and not just video cards...).

Just found this thread. I am < 200, I hope.
Sorry for necro, but I have to ask:

Not often seen:

Diamond FireGL PCI 1000 (none pro)
Creative 3D Blaster PCI
Mpact 2 8MB PCI
Savage 2000 PCI
Trident Blade XP AGP
Neon 250 AGP TV
S3 S18 Nitro PCI-E

FX5700 128Bit PCI
Radeon 9100 PCI

Cool list. Do you really have a Trident Blade XP? It might be my rarest card. Many people confuse it with simpler T16/T64.

Since only one out of more than 100 computers I own is a desktop, I think I have only one videocard. Or maybe two, since Dolch PAC portable also has to have some videocard inside. And I have no idea what are they. 😄

Seems most people here fall into the "only what they need, and no more" or "entirely too many" categories? Anyways, I have maybe around 20 atm. Not gonna make a list, but I'm trying to cover about every other generation (decent compatibility, not too much clutter) and I'm also interested in makes other than the "big two" (e.g. currently toying around with a Via Chrome9/WinME combo - would not recommend tho).
