So I wanted to test out some retro cards for comparison. When I got onto the Rage 128 Pro I got a problem. When I tried to install the drivers and it said "This display driver is not compatible with display adapter(s) installed in your system." I tried a rage 128 Pro Ultra that I have too and it didn't work. Weirdly enough it worked for the Rage 128 GL, I just had to have it as 'Standard PCI adapter' in windows, I did the same thing with the other 2 cards. I first tried using the latest 4.13.7192 drivers, then I tried a couple others but none worked. I heard from places that maybe flashing the motherboard bios would help because I heard some newer motherboards don't support the rage 128 Pro. Maybe are both my 128 pro cards broken? Idk. If any would know a fix please tell me.

My system:
Gigabyte GA-6VTXE Pentium III Tualatin motherboard
256mb Pc133 Memory
Windows 98SE with DirectX 9.0c

ATI had an insane number of PCI IDs for most of their chips.
Just get any good driver for R 128 Pro and edit your cards' PCI ID into the drivers' .INF file.

This has happened to me before.

Try with version 4.13.7192 here: https://soggi.org/drivers/ati.htm

If it doesn´t detect your cards, then try this one:

Install using device manager and point to the inf.
Really the only sure fire way with the mess that was the ATI Rage.

Yeah, I tried that too but windows just said "The best drivers for this device is already installed."

Don't do the "let Windows search this directory for the best driver to use" option.
Select the "let me pick from a list of available drivers" option and then select "have disk"
You will have to pick the device type from the list of devices first.
You can then browse to wherever you have the inf saved and it should give you list of drivers to choose from.

I usually have to do it this way with certain hardware.
