Hey folks,

Was looking around for other stuff and came across Chips and Technologies new old stock VGA chipsets, F65545B2 in the 208 pin quad flat package... several vendors on Ali Express seem to be offering them as well as some surplus parts houses.

Not sure they're "great" but have had laptops with them in and they draw windows in windows and have good compatibility with 2D (Software rendered 3D) DOS games. Think they'll address 2MB.

Just a heads up really for anyone thinking about new old hardware, new VLB cards with modern outputs, single board x86 DOS machines, unloading the VGA from your bluepill STM32 emulator or whatever.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

The c&t 65545 to me is a darn good chipset in my experience. Have 2 NEC Versa laptops with them (M/75, P/75) and i have yet to find a problem woth them in any software.
