Hi, I know its an quiet old topic and yes sure, a TUSL2-C can only utilize 512 MB of RAM.

But today I just threw one more 256 MB stick in. And hey, it counts 768 MB in the BIOS and it starts into Windows 98 SE and - yepp, it crashes.
In Safe Mode everything was fine and CPU-Z showed 786 MB and all sticks. So, I went further and installed the inofficial Win 98 SE service pack and patches.
Then I was able to start the UT2003 Demo, set all seetings in the game menu etc. But, when the Map was loading, it again crashes.

After this, I tried WIndows XP. It hangs when it starts formatting the disk. So the installation did not work with 768 MB.
So, I installed XP with 512 MB RAM - After the setup I installed the additional 256 MB again. It hangs at "logging on" in Safe Mode and Normal Mode...

Next, I will try Windows 2000 and Ubuntu 10.10 or something links this. Maybe also an older Board driver.
I am using the Board revision 1.04 and the latest (Beta) BIOS.

I have the feeling that it crashs when some service or driver loads. Not sure - it is strange behaviour. Seems not like a faulty random memory issue.
Windows 98 in safe mode was stable so far. And if it is a Hardware limitation, it should hang at POST - but it is loading Windows.
Maybe it is in BIOS or Driver - then, maybe it could be cracked somehow.

Not sure what you’re trying to achieve. It’s a known fact that the 815EP chipset only support 512 MB of RAM.
It’s not the BIOS, it’s not a driver, it’s a chipset limitation that Intel used as a way to push the infamous RDRAM platforms.

I had a similar experience when experimenting with exceeding the RAM limit of the Intel TX chipset. Re: Maxing out the ram capacity on my motherboard

Okay, yes I know. I was just hyped because it starts and booted somehow into Windows with 768 MB. But yeah. I tinkered around and it isn't stable. I just tried it further an put a post in here to share experiences because as far as I read in the past, the board hangs on Post while counting Memory. So I found it quiet interesting that my TUSL2-C was able to start Windows 98. It would be just awsome to get 768MB or 1024MB working on this specific board. But yes I know it is a dream. And as Repo Man11 stated he has also a similar experience with the TX Chipset... Thats what I was looking for... expierices from others

I can check this next week. I have more 133 Mhz CL2 RAM incoming. Because 768 MB were donated from my main Tualatin System.
